Rules of Roman numerals -
1. Repetition of roman numerals mean addition.
2. Only I,X,C,M can be repeated.
3. V,L,D can't be repeated.
4. No symbol can be repeated more than three times.
5. Smaller numerals written to the left of larger numerals means subtraction.
6. "I" can be subtracted from "V" and "X" only.

That's interesting. Most of the folks knew using letters I X and V.
